SAN RAMON, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–In an effort to encourage seniors to incorporate regular exercise into
their lives to build strength in both body and mind, fitness leader 24
Hour Fitness is introducing “First Fridays,” an active aging program
launching in clubs nationwide starting May 3. First Fridays will take
place on the first Friday of each month throughout 2019 and will include
free Active Aging classes, workshops and gatherings designed
specifically for senior members and guests.
Guests can try any Active Aging class, such as SilverSneakers®, Silver &.
Fit® yoga, aqua. Zumba Gold®, designed to boost mobility,
flexibility and cardiovascular health, concerns particularly important
to this demographic. And because building community can be just as
important as exercise, classes will be followed by parties where
participants can get to know other fitness-focused adults. Parties and
classes vary by club. Check www.24hourfitness.com/gx24parties
for class schedule and First Friday details.
“As we age, we require a focus on balance, flexibility and muscle
strengthening in all areas of the body in order to enhance quality of
life,” said Micki Stary, Senior Director Group X, 24 Hour Fitness. “We
also know that there is an epidemic of loneliness that further
contributes to and exacerbates a decline in health as we age. We're
delighted to open our doors to the active aging community through our
First Friday program. These group classes have been developed to
specifically target the needs of the active plus members. We encourage
all members of the active plus community to bring friends and family and
get moving together with these free Active Aging classes and fun events.”
24 Hour Fitness First Friday events will take place on May 3, June 7,
July 5, August 2, September 6, October 4, November 1 and December 6. The
May 3rd party will celebrate National Arthritis Awareness
Month and National Stroke Awareness Month.
